JUST TRANSITION
On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, we will continue to spread the word about our groundbreaking report: “Workers and Communities in Transition: A Report of the Just Transition Listening Project.” The report summarizes the direct experiences of more than 100 workers and community leaders who have lived through major economic transitions due to plant closures, downsizing, automation or the COVID-19 pandemic. The action will be a social media campaign with graphics featuring workers’ quotes plus amplification of our March 26 Congressional Briefing–part of the Build Back Better, #BuildBackFossilFree series of briefings. Presenters included Rep. Andy Levin of Detroit, Ashley Nicole McCray of the Indigenous Environmental Network, Charlie Sandoval of United Steelworkers Local 675, Bob Bower, special advisor to the President for Workforce Development, Massachusetts AFL-CIO, and Dr. Mijin Cha, report co-author and urban planning professor at Occidental College.
